Days like these are what make life so great.
Charlie Gibson’s grandad has been a fan of the Manchester City English football club since he was just 6 years old. Even though he has dementia, his love for the game is still strong. That’s why, when he found out that the team’s final game of the season would decide whether or not they won the league, Charlie couldn’t help but get them tickets.
The day started off strong, but after breakfast, grandad “started to fade” and forget Charlie’s name. He held his hand and took him for coffee, but it wasn’t until they reached the stadium that he started to come back. In fact, his face lit up with excitement! This level of joy only continued when they were surrounded by fellow fans. Grandad even remembered the words to the songs that play for Manchester City!
Even when it seemed like their team would lose when the score was 2-0 at halftime, gramps was still all smiles! That being said, nothing could beat the pure joy he had when they came out in the second half and absolutely crushed it, giving them the win!
“Look at that smile and energy football gives him,” Charlie wrote. ” … A memory [we’ll] cherish forever.”
