A Cappella Group Wows Passersby With Flawless “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

lion sleeps tonight

If the movie “Pitch Perfect” and the hit show “Glee” taught us anything, it’s that singers who perform a cappella are insanely talented. But you don’t need the flashy lights and a whole production team to make the musical genre shine.

This group, performing a five-part harmony of the classic song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” on the streets of New York City, are proof of just that. As they began to sing, it took just a few notes for a crowd to gather.

One bystander caught a video of the guys’ performance and called their music real “soul,” and for good reason! The five men were accompanied only by a bass player, otherwise, all of the music and sounds were made by their voices.

Harmonizing in a loud, crowded area is tough enough as it is, but this song, in particular, requires a wide vocal range and serious talent to pull off. They hit every note flawlessly, even the famous high-pitched “weeeeeee” in the middle of the song. It’s hard to believe that these guys are amateurs and not professional singers.

In the video, the camera pans around to see that people of all ages have convened to watch in awe. While it’s not uncommon to find street performers all over the Big Apple, this kind of talent is hard to come across!

Since the video was posted, it has been viewed more than 8 million times and racked up over 5,000 comments. It seems that people all over the internet are sad that they didn’t get to witness this performance in person because it’s so impressive. One person even called it “a masterpiece.”

Check out their incredible performance in the video below. Don’t forget to share this with all of your friends.
