Acapella’s Worship Leadership Institute in Nashville, Tennessee seldom pass up a chance to “make a joyful noise.”
The group was recently grabbing a quick lunch at the Chick-fil-A near Rivergate Mall in Nashville when something magical happened. One member of the group began to sing the first few lines of the classic Bill Withers song “Lean On Me,” and before anyone knew what was happening the entire group had joined in.
The art of a cappella is that no musical accompaniment is necessary. Each member of the choir sings a different part of the song, making a beautiful melody with only their voices. As the choir director begins to circulate through the small dining room you can see the surprised looks on their fellow patron’s faces. People stop eating and turn to look at the man as he moves behind them, singing strongly and encouraging others to join in.
Everyone knows and loves this song, so it doesn’t take much encouragement for the other diners to start singing along and nodding their heads to the rhythm. People seemed genuinely delighted to hear these gorgeous male voices singing a meaningful song about loving and supporting one another.
Jake Jones, a member of the Acapella’s Worship Leadership Institute, was behind the camera that day as this moment unfolded. As he panned around the room we get to see the reaction of everyone witnessing this unusual singalong, and everyone seems to love it. Even the Chick-fil-A crew members took a few seconds away from their tasks to join in on the fun moment.
This video is sure to give you goosebumps! Judging by the sheer number of views it’s received since being uploaded on the 4th of July, we’d say lots of others had the same feel-good reaction to the clip.
