Lenny Kravitz Hears A Choir Singing His Song Down The Street, Runs To Join Them.

Do good, get good – it’s a common phrase meant to encourage people to perform kind acts. The thinking is that in return, you’ll be rewarded.

When The Voice of Praise Choir from First Baptist Church in Lewisville, Texas, was in New Orleans helping with post-Hurricane Katrina efforts in 2010, they learned the true meaning of the saying. They expected the trip to be memorable, but they never saw this coming…

The choir was on a popular street in the French Quarter playing songs, and while they traditionally stick to worship music, they wanted to draw a crowd, so they started jamming an un-rehearsed version of “Fly Away” by Lenny Kravitz.

Lo and behold, Lenny was just a few blocks away, hanging out on a friend’s rooftop when he heard his song. The rocker immediately went looking for the source.

He stumbled upon the choir and started dancing to the music.

At first, the choir was a little skeptical of Lenny. According to the Dallas Morning News, one member said, “A lot of us had the same thought … is this a street performer? You never know. It’s New Orleans.”

But their doubts quickly subsided when they saw Lenny pick up drumsticks and join them on percussion.

Soon, the celeb transitioned over to vocals, while the young singers and musicians backed him up.

The entire jam session lasted about 15 minutes before the rockstar shook hands with all the choir’s band members and thanked everyone for their time.
