When LeAnn Rimes was just 14, she hit it big with her song, “Blue.”
Now, all these years later, the popular country song could be responsible for launching the career of not one, but two young singers. When 16-year-old Layla Spring of Lebanon, Kentucky, first appeared on stage for her “American Idol” audition, she brought along her adorable little sister, Dyxie.

Though the precocious seven-year-old was too young to compete in this season of the talent competition, the judges were so impressed with her voice and charmed by her personality that they bestowed her with a golden ticket to go to Hollywood when she’s finally old enough… in 2026.

Layla went on to earn a spot in the competition, but she was eliminated in the Top 24. The talented teenager has pledged to keep reaching for her dreams of becoming a singing sensation, and she’s already developed a devoted fan base who are sure to root for her as her career progresses.

For the 2018 season finale, Layla returned to the stage to sing LeAnn Rimes’ song, “Blue,” and she brought her little sister along, too. What the girls didn’t know, however, was that LeAnn herself was waiting backstage to give them the surprise of a lifetime!

As Layla and Dyxie traded off verses of “Blue,” LeAnn, all smiles, appeared behind them on stage. The crowd instantly began to cheer as soon as they recognized the country legend, and when Layla realized what was happening she actually stopped singing and blurts out, “Oh my gosh!”

Little Dyxie couldn’t believe her eyes either, and the expression on her face said everything you need to know about her feelings for LeAnn.

LeAnn gave both the girls hugs and kisses before joining them for the song that put her on the map. We’ve got to say, LeAnn’s voice still sounds like perfection all these years later, and the girls are holding their own!

What a talented group of young ladies! Later, LeAnn shared the video of her big surprise on Instagram with the caption, “SO much fun surprising these cuties on @americanidol tonight. Thanks for letting me join you @laylaspring and @dyxiebay!”

Dyxie and Layla also shared a photo of their big celebrity moment on their Instagram pages, with Dyxie exclaiming, “Last night was the best night of my life!”
We’re sure this is just the beginning of good things to come for these talented young ladies.
