Lake Baikal was formed as an ancient rift valley, having the typical long crescent shape with a surface area of 12,248 square miles… and it’s also considered to be one of, if not the deepest lake in the world.
But another of it’s most infamous featured is the drum-like notes that resonate from the ice on the ground when struck. You’d think that you were sitting around a fire with live tribal music if you couldn’t see them drumming on the frozen blocks.
