20-Yr-Old Singer’s Unique Twist On “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” Launches Her To Stardom.

International music fans are already familiar with singer KZ Tandingan, but recently resurfaced video reveals that the Filipino superstar has been around a lot longer than anyone remembers.

Back in 2012 KZ was just a twenty-year-old singer with stars in her eyes when she landed an audition for the first season of “The X Factor Philippines.” Before her performance she told the judges about how a throat injury had sidelined her career in her teens, but now she was fully healed and ready to earn herself a spot in her country’s music industry.

The petite young woman then proceeded to belt out a unique and flirty cover of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” that had the entire crowd on their feet by the time she’d finished. She’s not only got a lot of soul in her voice, but she’s got a lovely way of making songs her own.

“A star is born in Digos!” exclaimed “X Factor” judge Martin Nievera at the end of KZ’s song. Sure enough, after the show aired KZ’s video was uploaded to YouTube where it quickly went viral. After hitting a million views the video was pulled due to copyright issues, but years later it’s back, giving us a fresh perspective on the way this intriguing star got her start.

KZ went on to become a weekly challenger on China’s “Singer 2018.” When she was eliminated there was such an outcry on Chinese social media that the producers had to bring her back to perform again at the end of the season! She even got a chance to show off her rapping skills when she performed the Nicki Minaj part of “Bang Bang” alongside Jessie J. and Coco Lee.

In 2019, KZ received the prestigious Gold and Platinum award for Soul Supremacy, proving that her special brand of talent continues to put her on a higher level than your average singer.

With legions of fans all over the world, KZ seems poised to finally become a household name in the United States and elsewhere. Watching her first viral video shows how far she has come in just seven years, but we have no doubt that she’s just getting started!
