Not everyone follows traffic laws as they should. For example, some drivers roll through crosswalks even when there are kids out and about.

Fortunately, children in Batumi, Georgia, have nothing to fear when it comes to reaching the other side of the road. They have a furry friend named Kupata to keep them safe!

The adorable dog showed up in their town a few years ago as a stray. Since then, he’s taken it upon himself to escort tiny humans across the street. Kupata even barks at impatient drivers to remind them to keep their distance!

“He does this every day,” a local told The Dodo. “He takes his job very seriously. And sometimes he waits for children for one hour to make sure that they feel safe in the park and they cross the street safely.”

Kupata’s young friends are always grateful, rewarding him with plenty of hugs and pets.

“I’m sure that he thinks that taking care of children and taking care of our street is his job,” the observer added. “Kupata shows us that even dogs can be very responsible and very loyal.”

This canine hero isn’t just a hit with the kids. Since his arrival, he’s become a local celebrity!

Not only does his community take care of him, but they celebrate him as well. A mural of the dog can be seen on one of the town’s buildings, and the Adjara Tourism Department gave him his own doghouse.
