Kristin Chenoweth & Idina Menzel Return To “Wicked” Stage For Emotion-Packed Reunion.

It’s been 15 years since the musical “Wicked” debuted on Broadway, yet the magic of the show has not diminished in the slightest.

When “Wicked” opened on October 20, 2003, audiences couldn’t get enough of the glittery, humorous retelling of the well-known “Wizard of Oz” story. Actresses Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel were cast as the show’s lead characters, Glinda and Elphaba, which eventually landed them both Tony Awards.

Performing in “Wicked” was a life-changing, career-making experience for both Kristin and Idina, so when they got the chance to honor the long-running show for its 15th anniversary, both jumped at the chance. Fifteen years to the day, both actresses took the stage for NBC’s “A Very Wicked Halloween,” and as usual their performance did not disappoint.

“It feels profound,”Idina said about returning to the stage with Kristin. “It’s an honor to have this opportunity to commemorate “Wicked,” but it also forces you to look back on your life and see what the experience has taught you, where you’ve come from, what your journey’s been like … I feel very emotional and reflective.â€

Idina and Kristin took the stage to sing “For Good,” a sweet song about how their characters’ lives were changed for the better by meeting and becoming friends. Kristin gets choked up just seconds into the song, but like the true professional that she is, she soldiers on through the emotion.

Adding to the moving performance, midway through the song, the ladies welcomed their “sisters,” dozens of other cast members from the company of “Wicked,” both past and present. All of the actresses who’ve ever tread the boards as Elphaba and Glinda were on hand to celebrate the show that has brought so much joy to their lives, and to the lives of others.

What’s more, you can plainly see how much this show meant to all the fans who’ve ever seen the show or heard the soundtrack. It celebrates differences and drives home the point of inclusion and love.
