Kind Woman Stops To Offer Thirsty Raven A Drink From The Water Fountain

Image shows a raven taking a drink at a water fountain while a human holds the water on.

Arches National Park in Utah is a beautiful place to visit. The park features natural rock formations and over 2,000 stone arches. However, the area lacks shade and can become quite warm due to the midday sun. When Jenny Carroll was visiting the park, she stopped at one of the drinking fountains to rehydrate. She found a raven sitting in the bowl of the water fountain.

Rather than shoo it away, Jenny slowly reached for the handle to turn the water fountain on for the raven. When water began flowing, the bird let out a single caw, but did not attempt to move. Ravens are a member of the corvid family, and they are brilliant. We can surmise that the raven knew the fountain would provide cooling water.

Jenny was happy to provide the temporary use of her opposable thumbs. The raven took a drink from the water fountain like a pro. There is every indication that this bird has probably done this before.

People in the comment section are unsure if this is a raven or a crow. Based on its size, we’re relatively sure it is a raven. It is documented that ravens are more common than crows at Arches National Park. Crows are also slightly smaller, with a thinner beak. Ravens don’t migrate in the winter except to find a better food source.

We’re unsure where Jenny lives, but the videos on her TikTok page tell us she is no stranger to wild animals. She has deer and their fawns wandering down the street, bears joining a kayak adventure, and a fox taking a nap on a car. Helping the raven is such a natural thing for Jenny to do.
