Kellie Pickler Returned to ‘American Idol’ Years After Heartbreak — Her Performance Was Bittersweet

Kellie Pickler

Kellie Pickler auditioned for American Idol in the fall of 2005. Back then, she was an innocent 19-year-old, bubbly blonde who immediately caught Simon Cowell’s attention. Kellie was a fan favorite on season 5 and made it pretty far in the competition. Kellie ultimately finished in sixth place, but that didn’t stop her from pursuing her dreams as a recording artist. She released her self-titled debut album in 2008 and kept very busy. She married her husband, Kyle Jacobs, in 2011, three years after they began dating. Tragically, he passed away in 2023, and Kellie has been laid low for the last few years. That’s changed on May 4, 2026.
