Dog Takes In Sick Baby Lamb & The Photos Are Too Cute.

Poor Jerry didn’t start out with the best lot in life: The little lamb was born a triplet and, as the runt of his litter, his mom decided it wasn’t worth her effort to feed him along with his healthier siblings. But his luck changed and his new lease on life started the moment he was brought to the Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary.

Megan Mostacci and her husband started the sanctuary at their farm in Ontario last spring after they nursed a sickly goat back to health.

Jerry was just four days old when they welcomed him into the fold, and he already suffered from inflamed joints and a respiratory infection.

Fortunately, he responded well to the medication, but the best part is the big psychological boost the adorable little orphan got when he took up with the couple’s dogs, Drake and Lincoln.

Drake, a Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever, and Lincoln, an Australian shepherd, were delighted with this latest arrival on the farm. And while Jerry was affectionate with both, he and Drake established an especially tight bond right away.

It was evident within hours of Jerry’s arrival, when Megan left the two of them on the couch and left the room, then returned to see this:

This afternoon, Jerry was looking at drake on the couch so I set him up beside him. I left for a couple minutes and came back to this. Both animals were so happy. I love to see how different species can form a bond.

It is crazy to me that this dog treats a lamb better than a lot of humans would. He knows that Jerry is a friend — not food. Keep fighting Jerry — you have a family who loves you so much!

Maybe Jerry took his cue from the cat? Drake obviously wants to serve whatever role is most helpful, whether it’s as a surrogate parent or a big, oversized pillow just the perfect size for a little nap…

Jerry’s obviously found his best friend and surrogate mom in Drake, but he also enjoys cuddles from Lincoln…

…And kisses!

And Jerry’s inter-species friendships extend beyond dogs – he’s friendly with any number of the other animals at the farm, including geese, pigs, and goats.

In fact, Jerry’s so secure in his relationship with Drake that he doesn’t even mind sharing him. He just always makes sure he has the best spot:

He even mingles with his own kind, posing with his “big sister,” Molly, for this early Easter photo shoot:

Knowing his backstory, your heart can’t help but go out to this little orphaned lamb. But thanks to the Mostaccis and their menagerie of animals, he has more love than he knows what to do with and will never have to worry about being abandoned again.
