The Today Show host and daughter of former president George W. Bush gave her oldest daughter, Mila, a proud tribute during Today with Jenna and Sheinelle after her co-host, Sheinelle Jones, paused to point out that they were both moms of teens. Sheinelle has three children: 16-year-old Kayin, and twins Clara and Uche, who turned 13 in July.
“That little person turned 13 years old today, which I cannot believe,” Jenna said as she shared a newborn photo of Mila that she also posted to her Instagram stories.
Mila is one of three children that Jenna Bush Hager shares with her husband, Henry Chase Hager. She’s also mom to daughter Poppy, 10, and son Hal, 6. And her journey into motherhood started with pure chaos
Jenna Bush Hager Went into Labor with Mila During Her Baby Shower
“You know, she came at my baby shower,” Jenna told Sheinelle. “…All of a sudden, my water burst, and everyone had different reactions. There was one man, who was the caterer, he just threw a paper towel roll and walked out the door.”
Mila decided to enter this world about a month early. But she was already “her own girl” and decided she was ready before Jenna was, just as Jenna isn’t quite ready to be the mom of a teenager.
“Do you have any advice?” she asked Sheinelle.
“I’m a few months in,” Sheinelle answered. “You know what it is? They become their own people. Over the years, if I tell you, ‘Wear this,’ and they just put it on. You’re finally at an age where … Clara wears what she wants.”
But that small bit of defiance or independence actually makes Sheinelle respect and “like” her more.
“Also, we’re friends,” she admitted. “I mean, I am her mom, but I like her. Like, I like her personality… You and Mila have similarities… but I think it’s gonna be good.”
