Jennifer Barclay is a twentysomething young woman who lives in a seaside village near Fife, Scotland. Jen has recently risen to internet fame thanks to a short video clip of her 87-year-old grandpa, Robert, opening his door to greet her when she comes to visit. The video consists of 17 door-opening moments, and each one is more delightful than the last.

Jen seems to visit her grandparents quite frequently, which is heartwarming in and of itself, but the expression on Robert’s face when he sees her standing on his doorstep is what has hearts all over the world absolutely melting.

”My wee Grandad, 87 years young and he’s my no.1 guy,” Jen wrote on Twitter. “I love him with all my heart. And I love recording his reactions when I come to visit. I hope everyone can appreciate the video I’ve made as much as I do.”
Every time Robert opens the door he is dressed smartly and seems to be in a chipper mood. Oftentimes he’s whistling tunelessly as the door opens, but one thing is consistent all 17 times the door swings open: he is utterly delighted to see his granddaughter standing there.

Sometimes Robert calls his granddaughter by adorable nicknames like “hen” or “honey bun,” and other times he gets a little spunky and asks her for a password to enter. No matter what he says when he greets her it’s crystal-clear that he could not be happier to see her, and it’s got everyone online feeling misty about their own grandparents.

Jen’s post instantly struck a nerve with internet viewers, racking up over 615,000 likes in just a few days. “My grandad has broken the internet today,” Jen laughingly admitted. She soon realized what an impact Robert was having on people everywhere, so she went ahead and created an Instagram page for him. He’s already got thousands of followers!
