Jason Kelce Breaks Down Announcing Retirement From NFL, Gets Heartwarming Farewell From Fans

Jason Kelce is officially leaving the NFL, and his retirement has both him and his fans in tears.

After 13 seasons and weeks of rumors, the Eagles center announced his painful decision to step away from the field. He shared the news during an emotional press conference on Monday, March 4.

“This all brings us here today, where I announce that I am retiring from the NFL,” he said through tears. “… And today, I must admit, I am officially over-rated, vastly over-rated. It took a lot of hard work and determination getting here.”

“I have been the underdog my entire career and I mean this when I say it,” he continued, “I wish I still was.”

Jason Kelce’s career has been glittered with success. After being drafted as the Eagle’s 6th pick, he has earned six first-team All-Pro selections and seven Pro Bowl selections. He also took home one Super Bowl Title.

As he said goodbye to his fans, Jason Kelce thanked his wife, Kylie, his father, Ed, and his brother, Travis. He also gave a shoutout to his coaches and teammates.

Jason “went off the rails” when he spoke about what football means to him and Travis and shared how it impacted them as a child.

“We won countless Super Bowls in our minds, before even leaving the house,” Jason recalled.

Jason Kelce’s words hit Eagles fans almost as hard as they hit him. Once the beloved player walked away from the microphone, people flooded social media with well-wishes and kind praise.

“I don’t know if you will read this but what a legend you are,” one person wrote on X. “I will wear your jersey with pride not for the player you were but the man you are. No doubt first ballot Hall of Famer. Enjoy your family and can’t wait for the next episode @newheightshow.”
