When kindergarten teacher Jodi LaFreniere got a notification from her doorbell camera while at work, she never could have guessed what set it off!
Because her fiancé, Rodney Riesland, was out of town, she decided to check it ASAP. What she saw seemed normal at first: Their usual FedEx delivery driver was dropping off a package… but then something unexpected happened. Seconds after putting the deliver down, he grabbed a nearby shovel to clear off the snow covering their front porch.
Rodney and the deliver driver, Mel Marlett, have chatted before, but Jodi never would have expected him to go this above-and-beyond his job description!
“Although we see many acts of kindness in the Upper Peninsula, it was still surprising to see that he went the extra step,” Jodi said. “I shared it with my coworkers immediately because I couldn’t believe it. It made my day.”
That’s why she shared the moment online, something that led to the two of them connecting on Facebook. Needless to say, she was happy to thank Mel for what he did. Not that he expected it, of course!
“I would hope it’s something that anybody would have done,” Mel said. “If you take care of your customers, they take care of you.”
Watch Rodney’s act of kindness below, and don’t forget to share to inspire others.
