Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco was born in Glenwillard, Pennsylvania, in 1943. Dreaming of a career in the music industry, he changed his name to Lou Christie in 1962, and the rest is history. Lou’s incredible voice made him a star. With hit songs like Lightning Strikes, I’m Ginna Make You Mine, Rhapsody in Rain, and Tears On My Pillow, Lou became one of the most celebrated falsetto singers of all time. Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Lou’s family announced his recent passing on social media.

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved brother, Lou Christie, who left us after a brief illness,” a post explained. “He was cherished, not only by his family and close friends, but also by countless fans whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity, artistic and musical talent, humor, and spirit. His absence leaves a profound void in all our hearts. He will be greatly missed, always remembered in forever loved.”
The News Of Lou Christie’s Death Saddened Those Who Knew Him
Many people took to social media to share kind words about Lou Christie.
“Shocked & Saddened to hear Lou Christie has passed away. Didn’t know about his illness and now he’s gone. Unbelievable. A true friend and obviously a great talent. Shocked and Stunned. RIP,” singer Fabien wrote on Facebook.
Gary Mora also shared his condolences. “This is another tough one to report: I just got word that singer Lou Christie passed away yesterday at the ager of 82. He and I corresponded on a regular basis and he often appeared on my Facebook page,” he wrote on Facebook. “When Bobby Rydell passed away, Lou joined Frankie Avalon and Fabian as one of the Golden Boys of Bandstand. He had one of the best falsetto voices in the business. We will miss you Lou. Rest In Peace.”
“I’ve known Lou Christie 30 years and have played with him countless times. Always a gentleman, always professional, always singing his ass off, and always a pleasure to be around. He will be missed. RIP…,” Ivan Funkboy Bodley wrote on X.
His family did not disclose a cause of death. Lou Christie was 82.
