Being a kid can be oh-so fun. Part of the reason why stems from the lack of responsibilities that come with adulthood. That said, kids have their own struggles, too. A particularly common struggle is feeling left out, something that I experienced myself growing up. Dealing with these feelings at any age is a struggle. But it can be even harder to deal with as a kid. That’s why I find the story Lauren Campbell shared to be oh-so heartwarming.

In a social media post, Lauren explains that her dad did not have much growing up. That’s why, when he started a family, he did everything he could to give them a better life. But it wasn’t just his own family that Dad looked out for, it turns out. And that shines through in the gift Dad gave some of Lauren’s classmates.
It all started when Dad learned about an upcoming fieldtrip Lauren’s class planned to take. It would cost each kid $40 to go. When Dad found out, he couldn’t help but wonder about the families who couldn’t afford it. He asked Lauren what happens to kids who can’t afford it, and she didn’t know. But Dad didn’t need a sure answer in order to decide what he’d do next: pay for every single kid who couldn’t afford the trip.
Dad Shows His True Colors When He Gifts His Daughter’s Classmates With the Money Needed to Go on a Field Trip
“A week after the field trip, I got pulled into the office and given a thank you letter from my school to my dad,” Lauren shares. “I was so confused but later found out my dad paid for every kid who couldn’t afford to go.”
When Lauren asked her dad about this, his explanation for doing so was simple: “I know how it feels to be excluded and no kid should ever feel that way.”
Nothing warms my heart like folks who look out for others. This small gesture is sure to have made a lasting impact on those kids, even without them knowing about the kind stranger who made such a selfless choice. Acts of kindness like this, I find, contribute greatly to our world being a much better, happier place!
