Horse Reunites With Her Foal 3 Years Later & Her Reaction Is Beautiful

A mama horse leans down to nuzzle the face of her small foal.

Once a human baby is born, it’s the parents’ responsibility to help them grow into a happy, healthy adult. But the same can’t be said about all animals. Take, for example, horses. They can start becoming independent in mere months to a year or two. And for those who live under the care of humans, that can be sooner, should the foal be weaned at a younger age.

Fuller Sport Horses is quite familiar with weaning a horse from her foal. They have a mama horse named Faye. She’s had four foals in total. And, according to a social media post, Faye hadn’t seen her first foal in years. This left them wondering: Would Faye even recognize her own offspring if they were reintroduced? Find out for yourself in the video below.

Although Faye’s reaction was (mainly) subtle, these horse owners are certain she remembered Fern. Part of the reason why they were so confident has to do with the way Faye was persistently sniffing her foal. Normally, this isn’t something Faye would do. And as far as that squeal at the end of the video goes, well, Faye’s owners have a “theory.”

“That squeal was so dramatic,” the caption of this heartwarming video reads. “She was like ‘You’re my baby, but remember I’m still in charge even though you’re big now!'”

After Several Years Apart, This Mama Horse Still Recognizes Her Very First Foal

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, Fern has grown quite a lot in not a lot of time. That’s because horses are known for growing rapidly. In fact, much of their growth takes place in their first year of life. That makes them nearly 90% full grown by the time they are a year old!

“The squeal was her remembering her labor & delivery pains,” someone jokes in the comment section of the video, with another adding, “I saw a video of a lady that sold her heart horse when she was an early teen. Bought her back 20 yrs later. I think took her a moment but that horse nuzzled her as soon as she realized.”
