Police Officer Helps Rescuer Reach Furry Creature Stranded In The Middle Of The Highway

Image shows a fuzzball stuck on a highway divider wall right before rescue.

Traffic was moderate to heavy on the Sunrise Highway on Long Island in New York, but a motorist saw a fuzzy lump that needed help. The other cars were not slowing down, and the rescuer was having trouble crossing the three-lane highway. Suddenly, a short burst of a police siren was audible over the sounds of traffic. Help was here, and the highway rescue was underway.

Once the police arrive on the scene, they use their vehicle to slow down the cars, gradually blocking the highway lanes. This gave the highway rescue hero the time to run across the road to the center. Hunched on the top of the dividing wall was the fuzzy animal that started all this.

The rescuer grabbed the tail first. The fuzzy lump picked up its head, and we finally see that it is a very frightened opossum. The rescuer grabs it under the belly with a towel and heads back across the traffic lanes. With the highway rescue complete, traffic resumes its speedy pace.
