Every once in a while, we hear a song or performance so beautiful it gives us goosebumps.

In early February, guests at the Hilton Fort Collins hotel in Colorado were treated with such an experience. High school students had gathered at the venue as part of a special annual tradition, filling the balconies all the way up to the ceiling. When they opened their mouths to sing, they left their audience below speechless.

The treble ensemble of the Colorado All-State Choir, which is comprised of hundreds of students from around the state, had traveled to the hotel as part of their yearly festival. This year, they kicked off their favorite tradition of singing from the balconies by performing the gospel song, “Down in the River to Pray.”

The student’s angelic voices rang out in the atrium as they looked down to take direction from their conductor below.

The acoustics of the hotel gave their blended voices an ethereal sound, making the moment magical to witness. It’s no wonder everyone (including choir members themselves) looks forward to this event each year!

Chris Maunu, a choir director at Arvada West High School, shared the footage on Facebook, writing that 34 of his students took part in the performance. The video went on to rack up millions of views in the week after it was uploaded. Thousands commented, describing how the song gave them chills and they wished they could have been there in person to hear it.

“Beautiful! Sounds like angels,” one person wrote. Another added, “Gives me goosebumps every time I watch this. Amazing.”

Aren’t they phenomenal singers? Those students must be so proud to call themselves members of such a talented group. Watch the high schoolers’ captivating performance below, and don’t forget to share the uplifting tune with anyone whose day needs a little brightening.
