This incredible actor, singer, and dancer has turned 55 years old today. In his decades of performance, the icon has accomplished a lot. He’s known for his work in Wolverine, X-Men, and of course, The Greatest Showman.
He’s no stranger to the public eye, but there are a lot of things you may not know about Hugh! Here are seven fun facts about this amazing Australian actor.
1. He wanted to be a journalist before he was an actor.
In fact, journalism was his major at the University of Technology Sydney!
2. He’s not just an on-screen performer. In fact, he has a Tony!
Hugh has performed in two shows on Broadway and won a Tony for his performance in The Boy from Oz.
3. Hugh is a massive coffee lover.
Not only does he adore drinking it, but he even owns his own coffee brand!
4. He wasn’t the first choice for Wolverine.
Russell Crowe was asked to take the role of Wolverine before Hugh was. Russell was the one who recommended Hugh for the role, who was at the time, totally unknown.
5. Hugh is a Guinness World Record Holder.
Hugh Jackman holds the record for playing the same superhero the most times in any live-action film franchise. He’s appeared as Wolverine in seven films.
6. He hosted SNL, but had never seen the show!
That’s right! Before he appeared as a host on Saturday Night Live, he’d never even watched the program!
7. Before he made it big, he performed as a clown!
Even superstars have to get their start somewhere.
