Grieving Brother Pulled Over While Speeding To Funeral, But Cop’s Unexpected Act Of Kindness Takes Him By Surprise.

Mark Ross got a phone call on Sunday that anyone would be devastated to receive. At around 3 a.m. that morning, Mark’s sister had been involved in a fatal car accident. Mark doesn’t have a car, but thankfully a friend was willing to drive him the several hundred miles to Detroit.

Unfortunately, Mark and his friend were speeding as they made their way to his hometown. While driving through rural Ohio, Mark saw flashing blue and red lights behind him. His heart sank instantly. Mark had a petty warrant out for his arrest due to an expired driver’s license and his friend, who was driving the car, had the same. He was sure they were going to jail and would miss his sister’s funeral.

The officer that pulled the duo over had the car towed and the driver hauled off to the local jail. When it came time to decide what Mark’s fate would be, the heartbroken man started sobbing in despair.

The officer saw the sincerity in Mark’s emotion and asked him what was wrong. Mark explained his situation and the officer had compassion on him. Instead of arresting Mark, the officer put a hand on his shoulder and started praying for Mark and his family.

But he didn’t stop there.

Since the car was impounded, the unnamed officer offered to drive Mark the 100 remaining miles to Detroit in the front seat of his police cruiser.

Mark has always had a negative view of police officers, but in his words he is “truly grateful” for the officer and his act of kindness. The police sergeant has even promised to attend his sister’s funeral.

In a time when police officers are so negatively perceived, stories like this should restore our faith that things can and will turn around for the better.
