Massive Great Dane Refuses To Let Owner Relax Quietly On Couch.

roy field great dane

You know how little kids get bored sometimes and start pestering you for attention, but you can feign ignorance by claiming they’re so small, you just didn’t see them? That’s not so easy with a Great Dane.

In the video below, Roy Field of Weatherford, Texas, is just kicking back on the couch, probably after a hard day’s work, when Bodie Eugene Davis (Bodie Gene for short) hops up hoping to draw his attention away from the TV. Roy knows he’s there (because how couldn’t he?), and Bodie Gene knows that he knows.

The resulting unspoken conversation is too hilarious.

Bodie Gene is a Great Dane, but he apparently has a reverse Napoleon complex because he still thinks he can fit on Dad's lap. His cries for attention get funnier and funnier as he plops himself down on the couch and does everything he can think of to get his owner's attention.

If there’s one thing this massive pup won’t stand for, it’s being ignored.

Roy and his cuddle buddy got in the habit of hanging out on the couch before bed each night, but on this particular night, that routine went right out the window. That’s because Bodie Gene’s feeling frisky and wants to play, not be a couch potato!

But Roy’s beat and studiously avoids the Great Dane’s pleading eyes.

After a couple beats, Bodie Gene moves on to Plan B and just plops down, wedging himself between Dad and the couch.

That can’t be comfortable. But desperate times call for desperate measures. Plan C, we imagine, is to just shove Dad off the couch, but hopefully, it won’t come to that.

“Oh puhleeeease. This is a re-run. You’ve already seen it. But guess who you haven’t you seen all day? Me! Get up! Let’s play!

Now, this yawn here… is that a sign that he’s succumbing, or is he just letting Dad know that he’s the most boring person on the entire planet?

A couple years have passed since this video was uploaded, and Bodie Gene’s still up to his same old tricks. In this Facebook photo from early last year, he apparently still thinks he’s the same size and weight as a cuddly little lapdog, even though he tops the scales at 150 pounds.

But, Roy added, “I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
