A creative grandma doesn’t let distance come between her and her new grandson!
Mom influencer Sarah Penewit welcomed her son, Dawon, on Jan. 12, 2024, and her mom was standing by her side. The doting grandmother stayed in town for over a month to help the exhausted parents adjust to life with a newborn. Then, she sadly jetted back to her home in Texas.
Saying goodbye to Dawson wasn’t easy. And the grandma didn’t want to lose the bond she forged during the first weeks of her grandson’s life. So, she came up with the genius idea to start a YouTube channel that exclusively shows her reading books to Dawson.
A video on Your Positive News shows the grandma vibrantly reading Dawson a book through the screen and he intently listens to every word she says while he lounges in a bouncer.
“My mom lives out of state and wants to be part of our son’s life,” reads the caption. “So she made a YouTube channel where she reads him stories.”
In a separate post, Sarah shared that her mother has given her unending support through pregnancy and into motherhood.
“I’m so grateful for a mom who is willing to sacrifice her own sleep so that we can get ours,” she wrote. “A mom who breaks her leg halfway through her stay with us and says ‘it’s a blessing in disguise. Now I get to spend more time with you.’ A mom who is respectful of our intimate family time and asks if we need her or need space. The list goes on.”
“I hope to one day be half the mom she is,” she concluded.
