“You Can Have Goats, Or A Relaxing Afternoon In The Hammock. Not Both…”

Image shows two goats and a mini pig.

There might not be anything as relaxing as a summer afternoon spent lying in a hammock. The gentle breeze blows the smell of honeysuckle over you. Everything is perfect. You close your eyes to allow total relaxation to wash over your entire being. Something thuds near your hip and the hammock swings violently as a silly goat jumps into your oasis.

Melody Taylor was trying to relax in her hammock when her four goats decided they deserved some summer relaxation too. So much for a quiet respite. Goats are little balls of kinetic energy that would make a good generator for a perpetual motion machine. They never seem to stop moving, jumping, bouncing, and headbutting.

We’re unsure if Melody researched goat behavior before adding them to her little farm. If she had, she would have known about their rambunctious behavior. Search YouTube for videos featuring goat yoga. It’s pretty self-explanatory. There will be no relaxing afternoons in the hammock while goats prance about freely.

Melody also has a house pig. The tiny pig has been raised inside. While it does come outside to play with the goats, it got in trouble the other day. For some unknown reason, the little pig yeeted its goat sibling, so it is on restriction from playing with the goats.

It seems like Melody is getting a crash course in animal husbandry. The fact that raising goats and a house pig is just as, if not more, challenging as raising human children is registering quickly. But, her animals are all young. Melody has many years to work with them on personal space. It won’t work on them, but she can try.

Please share if you laughed at Melody’s misfortunes.
