Girl Surprises Prom Date By Taking Her First Steps In 10 Months.

Some moments are so pure, they seem almost heaven-sent.

Twitter user MoMo (@aeonianlife) recently experienced one such moment, and after sharing it on Twitter the entire internet is now collectively sobbing into our hankies! MoMo’s story started almost a year ago when she underwent a surgery that didn’t go well. As she recovered, she suffered from a neurological issue called conversion disorder, which left her unable to walk.

Twitter

Conversion disorder is tricky; doctors don’t know exactly what causes it, so they can’t always point to a cure. Yet the symptoms are all too real, and MoMo experienced dark moments where she worried that she’d never regain her range of movement.

Twitter

Through it all, MoMo’s friends were there to support her and encourage her. When MoMo began feeling sensations in her legs again, 10 months after her surgery, she was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to show her prom date that she was back on her feet again.

Twitter

As we all know, actions speak louder than words so she decided not to tell him and instead show him. The goal was to surprise him when he arrived to pick her up. And boy, was he ever!

In the video, MoMo waits for her mother to open the door, and there is her date, dressed in his tuxedo and holding her corsage. That’s when she takes her first tenuous, shaky steps towards him.

It takes him a few moments to realize what’s going on.

His first thought, adorably, is to compliment her on how beautiful she looks! He literally staggers backward in shock when he takes in the whole scene.

When he realizes she’s actually walking again, he can’t wait to close the distance between them and envelope her in the tightest hug possible.

Twitter

“How did you do that?” He asked between hugs. “Y’all got me good.”

Everyone and we do mean everyone, who saw this video got a bit misty. It’s just one of those innocent, wholesome moments that are all too rare in life. Seeing two people who are just there for each other is so special!

Oh, and speaking of special… guess who was the Prom Queen? A newly-mobile MoMo!

Be right back… sobbing.
