In a hilarious video on social media, the woman filmed the mischievous Christmas figurine eating cereal right out of the box. Obviously, the elf wasn’t actually doing this on her own, but the video looked surprisingly real! Mom couldn’t wait to see if she could fool her daughter with the practical joke.

In the “candid” footage, the woman feigned astonishment when she saw the Elf on the Shelf moving of her own accord. Hesitantly, she called out the doll’s name, which was apparently Sparkles. As soon as the holiday elf heard the human’s voice, she immediately went limp. She clearly didn’t want Mom to know what she was capable of!
When this woman’s daughter found out that she’d captured actual footage of the Elf on the Shelf moving, the child was thrilled. She begged her mother to show her the video! Mom handed her the phone, and the kid’s reaction was too precious. As soon as she saw the Elf on the Shelf moving on camera, the little girl gasped.
“She just moved!” the child exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.
Her parents played the clip for her a second time, and she was just as mesmerized as before. The child thought it was pretty funny how the Elf on the Shelf immediately stopped moving when Mom said her name.
“She got frozen,” the girl giggled.
If this kid didn’t believe that Sparkles had magical powers before, she does now. In fact, this video actually has a few grown-up commenters questioning whether or not it was real! However, Mom explained in one of her responses that her husband was behind the “moving” Elf on the Shelf.
“My husband’s hand is moving the elf from the other side of the cereal box,” she wrote.
What an adorable Christmas memory these parents created for their daughter! We’re sure she’ll never forget the time Mom and Dad proved that the Elf on the Shelf could really move.
