Gingerbread cookies are a seasonal favorite, although, in my house, they are year-round treats. Typically reserved for the fall holidays, the sweet little man-shaped cookies offer a spicy delight to cookie lovers. The iconic Gingerbread Man is also a popular character from the “Shrek” movie franchise. Life-sized gingerbread cookies walked along the route during a parade celebrating Disney fantasy come to life. It was during the parade that an unthinkable travesty occurred.

A tourist, standing along the parade route wearing gingerbread-cookie-shaped “mouse ears,” waited for just the right moment. As a gingerbread man approached, she raised a gingerbread cookie to her mouth. A terrifying grin spread across her face as she locked eyes with the gingerbread man.
She opened her mouth, exposing her teeth. As the gingerbread man looked on in horror, she bit the head of the gingerbread cookie. As she chewed the cookie maniacally, one of the bakers came to lead the traumatized gingerbread man away. The baker shouted, telling the cookie man to look away, but the damage was done.

The moment turned the day from a celebration of fantasy to one of horror. The baker hustled the gingerbread man off to rejoin the other cookie men and bakers. The sight of watching one of his brethren be brutalized by a homicidal maniac is now seared in his memory.
If you’re laughing right now, that is good. This is not a new trend, and it happens frequently at Disneyland. They even sell delicious gingerbread cookies. If you have cannibalistic tendencies and wish to join this trend, please be sure to post your video. We doubt the trend will end soon.
Please share if you smiled and said, “That’s how the cookie crumbles.”
