This might be the most innovative sculpture ever created, when you see it walk your jaw will drop.

Since 1990, Theo Jansen has been occupied creating new forms of life… not through some sci-fi miracle, but with his own two hands. He uses old plastic tubes and lemonade bottles to piece together behemoth skeletons that walk on land under the power of the wind.

The project, entitled STRANDBEEST, is truly mesmerizing to behold. Janson considers his creations alive in their own right, and wants to let them roam free wherever the wind will take them.

In Jansen’s words, “Over time, these skeletons have become better at surviving the elements such as storms and water… Eventually I want to put these animals out in herds on the beaches, so they will live their own lives.”

Check out the incredible footage in the video below! I had to watch it twice.
