German shepherds are known as attentive guard dogs. They frequently serve as patrol officers for law enforcement agencies. The American Kennel Club (AKC) describes them as “Loyal, confident, courageous, and steady.” They add that a German shepherd is willing “to put their life on the line in defense of loved ones.” Apparently, Miss Butter, an 85-pound German shepherd, missed that memo.

Boots is a teeny-tiny, one-pound ginger tabby kitten. Is anyone else hearing David Attenborough droning on in the background? “The most dangerous animal on this planet. A violent creature filled with hateful thoughts and a lust for blood.” We get it. Kittens at that age are all sharp teeth and sharper claws, but they are also cute and adorable (except when they aren’t).
If you follow Kayla D on TikTok, she has several videos chronicling Boots and Butter’s antics. Although Butter is getting a little less kitten-shy, she still cringes when the rambunctious little tyke gets too close. They might eventually be great animal buddies, but for now, Boots rules the roost.
Animal behavior experts recommend that you introduce dogs and cats to one another slowly, It does appear that Kayla and her husband are doing everything correctly. They offer comfort to Butter when she is feeling shy and insecure. By monitoring the time that Boots and Butter are together, they can keep an eye on both to avoid any issues.
In later videos, Butter seems to be getting more confident around the small kitten. Part of the hesitancy may have been the tiny size. As Boots gets bigger, Butter should be more relaxed around the little menace to society. You can follow the family on TikTok or using the hashtag #bootsandbutter. Watch the friendship grow!
