Vicky Wallace describes herself as “a country girl” whose favorite artist is Garth Brooks. When the artist was performing in her area, she decided to drive for Uber just to be a part of the buzz of excitement around the Birmingham, Alabama arena.
That night, she was lucky to pick up Katie and Zack Watson.
Katie and Zach were in town from Columbus, Georgia to see the concert. They’d originally planned to bring along their friend Ana, but she got sick a few days before the show. Try as they might, they couldn’t seem to give their extra ticket away.
“We had this third ticket,” Katie recalled. “We tried to give it away. It was just sitting out there, no takers.”
As soon as they got inside Vicky’s car, the driver told them all about how much she loves Garth Brooks. Vicky takes pride in knowing the area around the stadium well, so she managed to get the couple right up close to drop them off. But as they were driving, Katie spotted an empty parking space right near the event.
“She takes us up there, and I’m like, ‘You know, we have this extra ticket if you want to go with us,’ and she’s like, ‘No, I’m not dressed cute. No,'” Katie described. “Then all of a sudden, I was like, there’s a parking space right there parallel to the stadium. She U-turns it around. We all hop out and go in.”
Katie, Zack, and Vicky had a great time at the concert! Katie later shared photos of the trio on Facebook, where they went viral. People everywhere are praising the couple for being so kind, generous, and inclusive with a total stranger, but Katie said the act of kindness was “the least they could do.”
“There’s no doubt that getting to take Vicky to the concert felt good,” Katie said. “It was the least we could do, and we believe it really made Vicky’s night.”
Vicky feels “blessed” by the experience, and she still can’t believe she crossed off this item off her bucket list.
“Zack and Katie were so kind,” she said. “I still can’t believe I was inside the stadium. I’m just a country girl at heart. A country girl that lived a dream.”
What a lucky break for all of them! It seems like Ana’s ticket was meant to go to Vicky. Dreams really do come true when we act on our best intentions!
