Of all the graduation gifts Jai Sisk received for finishing high school, we imagine this one meant the most.
She and her mom, Chief Warrant Officer Trina Sisk, are quite close, making it all the more heartbreaking that she wouldn’t be able to make it to her high school graduation… or so Jai thought. After being deployed 7,200 miles away in Kuwait, it seemed there’d be no way for her to come back for her special day. To make up for it, Trina recorded a heartfelt message for her 18-year-old daughter.
“Though I’m not there with you in person, know that I’m always there,” Trina said in the video. “Words cannot express how incredibly proud I am to have watched you grow into the strong and independent woman you are today. I am so lucky and blessed to be your mom.”
As Jai took in her mom’s sweet words while sitting in a restaurant, she held back tears – especially when her mom choked up. As emotional as she was by this thoughtful gift, there was a tenfold increase in her excitement when she turned around to see her mom standing right in front of her!
