Marek Slodkowski returned to his farm last week to discover one of his loved ones in danger.

His favorite horse, dubbed Freedom, had fallen into a maintenance pit in his barn and was unable to escape. She was snuggled so tightly into the newly formed pit that she couldn’t move anywhere. Marek leaped into action mode, stuffing hay under her hooves so that she might get a leg up on her situation..
But it was to no avail.
When Marek noticed his beloved horse weakening quickly, he immediately called the fire department and a local veterinarian.
The fire department showed up in force, but even with nearly a dozen people on deck their efforts weren’t enough to lift the horse from her prison. Horses are gigantic and also sensitive: to lift her up as she was was nearly impossible.
When all seemed lost, Freedom began to fight for her namesake.
