He Boldly Walked Up To Judges’ Table Without An Invitation. But Instead Of Getting Mad, They Give Him The Best Praises Ever.

When Sal Valentinetti stepped on stage at America’s Got Talent, everyone in the audience was captured by his old world charm…. and confidence.  Maybe even over-confidence.

Before he even began to sing, the big hearted Long Islander greeted the judges with “how you doin'” worthy of every mafia stereotype you’ve ever heard. The 20-year-old casually proclaimed that while he currently delivers pizza for his cousin’s place, he wants to bring the old world style of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra back to the mainstream.

How does a 20-year-old get involved with such old school music? According to Sal, his grandmother who recently passed away, was the most important person in his life. For Sal, listening to and singing in the crooning style was his way to remember and honor her memory.

Sal began to sing Frank Sinatra’s hit “My Way” and by the time he got to the chorus the audience was on their feet and the judges were all smiles. The standing ovation that followed brought tears to the crooner’s eyes.

Simon summed up his performance perfectly, “Sal, when you want to sing this kind of music, you can’t fake it… it’s either in you or it’s not. You’re an old soul, and I’m guessing right now, your grandmother is looking down saying ‘Yep, he did it his way.'”
