Firefighters Stop To Help Kids Trying To Fill Pool Using Pots & Pans.

When it’s almost 100 degrees outside, you’ll do just about anything to cool off.

On a sweltering day in mid-June, a group of kids in Charlotte, North Carolina, were trying desperately to fill up a small kiddie pool in their front yard. Since they didn’t have a hose, the children and their parents had made a sloppy assembly line to and from the kitchen, using pots and pans to transport water from the sink to the pool. It was a time-consuming and largely fruitless effort… until some local firefighters happened upon the scene.

Charlotte Fire Station’s Engine 18 was just leaving a medical call when they spotted the neighborhood kids trying to fill the pool for a little boy’s birthday party. Without hesitation, the first responders saw a problem they knew they could fix, so they pulled the truck up and got out a hose.

As the delighted children looked on, the crew filled up the pool quickly and easily. They even stuck around to give the kids a much-appreciated ice-cold shower, too. Talk about refreshing!

After Engine 18 returned to the station, Charlotte Fire Station shared photos of the moment on their Facebook page along with this sweet caption:

Firehouse 18 is a neighborhood firehouse full of men and woman who truly care about the families they swore to protect. Today, after leaving a medical call, Engine 18 stumbled across a family desperately trying to fill up a kiddy pool by filling pots from the sink for a little boys birthday on this sweltering day. What was just a simple task for us turned into laughter, smiles, and a life long memory for the neighborhood kids as well as the men on Engine 18. Proud to serve the WESTSIDE!
