Feisty Bird Tries To Steal Angler’s Fish, Almost Becomes Catch Of The Day.

A bird had to be rescued after swallowing a fishing hook.

An ambitious bird attempted to snatch a fish from a Maryland angler, but the feathered thief ended up biting off more than they could chew. Along with the tasty treat, the creature also managed to swallow the hook! Thankfully, the fisherman called up Animal Control, who identified the bird as a double-crested cormorant. According to UPI, authorities said the waterfowl seemed to have a “spicy” personality.

At Chadwell Animal Hospital, the hook and line were removed by Dr. Keith Gold. He said that, had the angler allowed the bird to fly off with the fishing gear, the cormorant could very well have died. Instead, the waterfowl was able to return to the wild after the procedure. Hopefully, this bird will stick to catching their own fish from now on!
