37-year-old Art Seger from Atlanta, Georgia has never met his dad; he’s never even seen his picture! Art sent a video to the “Mobbed” producers, asking for their help in reuniting. “As a little kid, I would often go crying to my mom, wondering why I didn’t have a dad.” he said through tears. “This is a big deal to me. And I’m scared. I’ve always just wanted my mom to be proud… I want to find my dad; I need you guys’ help.”
Art’s idea was for the show to help him locate his dad, then surprise the dad with a flash mob and a reunion 37 years in the making. But the people at “Mobbed” had a different idea.
With the help of a private investigator, Howie and his team tracked down Art’s dad– named James– in Indiana. But, rather than mob James, Howie decided to mob Art, surprising him with his father. James agrees to fly to California for the reunion.
Howie tricks Art into thinking that he isn’t going to help him find his father, so when a flash mob suddenly appears around Art, he has no idea what’s going on. There’s music and dancing and excitement before the mob parts and the the touching scene below takes place.
“I can’t believe you’re here! This is wild!” says Art as the crowd cheers.
“I wish I could’ve been there.” says James through tears.
“It’s okay,” says Art. “That’s all in the past. You’re here now.”
James hugs his son for the first time, “From now on, you have me 24/7… This is the start of a good relationship.”
The whole episode takes about 45 minutes to unfold. We’ve provided a minute and half clip of the reunion below… and it is incredibly emotional. (If you’d like to watch the entire episode, click here: Father Lost For 37 Years.)
I feel blessed to get to watch this joyful moment because it reminds me of the importance of family and encourages me to love my family now. It begs the question: how can I love them today? Consider that and take action in sharing your love now!
