Doppelgänger On The Wall: Family Stays At AirBnB And Finds Something… Unexpected.

Barney and girl from painting who looks like him.

Every so often, we run into a story that’s literally stranger than fiction.

Jennie Stevenson was driving home from a ski trip through the Swedish countryside with her family when her three kids started to get a bit grumpy. Deciding to stop driving for the night, Jennie rented a quaint AirBnB cottage nearby for a much-needed rest. Everything was fine inside the cabin, except one of the bedroom doors had a lock on the outside instead of inside, which Jennie found disconcerting. Little did she know, things were about to get even weirder!

At dinner, Jennie’s daughter excitedly told her about a painting on the wall that looks just like her brother, Barney. The Barney in question agreed it was his own spitting image, even though he was only 9 years old, and the painting’s artist, Carl Larsson, died in 1919. What do you think?

“That expression she’s making in the painting, Barney pulls that face all the time,” Jennie said. “I’ll ask him to smile for a picture and he gets a very intense, serious look.”

Jennie’s Twitter followers agreed that the resemblance was irrefutable. One even superimposed the two images to show they’re virtually identical.

Is anyone else hearing the theme song to “The Twilight Zone?” If that painting starts aging while Barney stays the same age, we’re outta here!
