After Husband’s Tragic Death, Single Mom Of Six Returns Home To Find It Completely Transformed.

Estelle Barnes-Summers never expected violent crime to make her a widow and single mother at 33-years-old. And the grieving Michigan mother had more than one little one she was responsible for caring for – she had six.

On top of all that, the couple had recently purchased a fixer-upper home to accommodate the growing family. But when Estelle’s husband was shot at killed, the necessary renovations to the property were still incomplete. She and the children were unable to move into the home.

Their world had been torn to pieces and they didn’t even have a safe place to call home.

As word of the family’s tragedy and situation spread, members of the local community, in partnership with Fox 2 and Yatooma Foundation for the Kids, stepped up to give the Summers family an unforgettable gift.

Together, volunteers gave 2,000 hours of their time towards the renovation of the Summers’ fixer-upper.

Then they brought Estelle back to the formerly “in progress”property and it was a jaw dropping experience.
