Teens Surprise Classmate With Sweet Celebration After Prom Is Canceled.

Emily Morrow is the kind of person who radiates joy, but even she was disappointed when her school called off prom because of the novel coronavirus.

That said, the Dallas, Texas, teen recovered quickly and came up with a plan of her own. Since she couldn’t dance at Highland Park High School, she’d throw a social distancing party at her house! When the prom committee found out about her idea, they loved it – and came up with a special surprise for her!

Everyone at school adores Emily, so they voted for her as prom queen and she won!

Instead of relaying the good news over the phone, the committee made a surprise delivery of a sash, bouquet, and crown to her doorstep. When Emily saw them, she lit right up. Her smile grew even wider when she realized her friends were waiting to give her a drive-by parade!

Everyone was cheering and holding signs to celebrate! To say Emily felt special is an understatement, but if you ask anyone who knows her, they’ll tell you she deserved all of that and more.

“She’s always so happy,” senior Keller Matise said. “She always has positive energy.”

Emily’s swim team coach, Hannah Kate, added, “Often she tells people, including myself, that they’re ‘the best,’ when really and truly she is THE BEST! I am so thankful that everyone at our school and in our community loves her just as much as I do and provides such a positive example to all.”

What a great way to make the most of a difficult situation! If her smile is any indication, this act of kindness meant the world to Emily. Of course, it was the least her classmates could do for the friend who always brightens their days.
