In today’s digital age, it’s not enough to simply ask someone to the prom; you’ve got to go all out!
Josh Johnson, a high school senior from Spring, Texas, knew he wanted to ask his best friend McKenna to prom, but he had to make his “promposal” truly memorable. Since McKenna is a superfan of Ellen’s, he decided to write the amiable talk show host a letter, asking for help.

“I really want to go to the prom with her, and I know she’d say yes if you were a part of it. Ellen, please help me out. This is her biggest dream,” Josh wrote to Ellen.
Josh and McKenna have been close friends since ninth grade, and he admits that he has just a teensy bit of a crush on the popular senior. “You have a crush on her, I assume,” Ellen asks Josh, and he shyly replies, “Yes, but don’t tell her. Don’t tell her.”

Ellen wastes no time sending Josh to hide backstage and then turns her attention to McKenna, whose sitting in a green room somewhere else in the studio.
“She thinks she’s here for something else,” Ellen explains, “When we’re ready, I’m going to pop up on the screen and surprise her.”

McKenna is shocked when her favorite TV personality shows on the screen. She confesses that she watches Ellen’s show every single day, Monday through Friday, and she’s got a little bit of a crush of her own.

“I love you,” McKenna gushes. “Not just love you, I’m in love with you!”

After lots of laughs and some nice big hugs, McKenna is ready to play a game of “What’s In The Box?” She’s presented with three boxes, and the one in the middle is suspiciously tall and Josh-shaped.

Proving that Ellen is the coolest matchmaker ever, she says she’s going to go an extra step towards making Josh and McKenna’s night unforgettable: she’s sending them a limo to take them out to a nice dinner on prom night. They are sure to have an absolute blast!
