‘Nana’ Gladys Hardy of Austin, TX might be Ellen’s biggest fan, but Gladys is Ellen’s favorite person of all time. From time to time, Gladys sends letters to Ellen suggesting everything from set changes to hairdo adjustments… and her opinionated, hilarious words do not go unheeded.

At long last, Ellen caught up with her pal on the home phone. The ensuing conversation was one for the ages. Right off the bat, Gladys has Ellen cracking up. Gladys answers her home phone after a few rings from Ellen, and says, “Hello, this is Gladys and if you’re selling somethin’ I ain’t interested.”
After a bit more banter, Gladys starts expressing her concern about Ellen’s show being on different channels in different cities. Ellen explains that, because it’s a syndicated show, different channels buy it in each city. Gladys, confused by Ellen’s technical terminology, quickly replies, “Well I’m sure that means somethin’.” Priceless!
But, Ellen completely loses it in a laugh attack when Gladys says, out of the blue, “Listen Ellen, I’ll be honest with you… I love Jesus but I drink a little.” The entire audience erupted in laughter as you can imagine!
