Considering just how rapidly technology has advanced in the last 10 years, it’s totally understandable whenever there’s the occasional mix-up on text or social media. We’ve seen some hilarious technology-related fails, but we’ve never seen anything quite like the conversation below.

We’ll be totally honest, we have no idea how this happened.
It all started when 17-year-old Jeff Squires received a text from his mom, Terri. Terri had seen photos on Facebook of two dogs who’d picked up by the Warden. The Grafton, Ohio mom was concerned that one of the dogs– pictured below– might be their family dog, Duey.

“Our dog tends to run away this time of year, especially around the 4th of July, with people blowing up fireworks all the time,” Jeff later clarified. “He gets scared and runs around.”
With that in mind, it makes sense that Terri might have been concerned. Here’s the thing though: that dog is definitely not Duey.
Jeff tweeted the entire conversation, saying “Yesterday I learned that my mom has no idea what our dog looks like.”

Wondering what Duey looks like? Well…

No one is exactly sure how Terri could’ve mistaken their Jack Russell Terrier for the dog in the photo, but the tweet has everyone rolling.

But the bizarre (and hilarious!) story led to an unexpected happy end. Because the photos were retweeted so many times, someone spotted the not-Duey dog and recognized it. Now the two missing dogs have been reunited with their owner, all thanks to Terri, Jeff, and– the real MVP– Duey.
