“I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and and very excited that she’s done a country album,” Parton says. “So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single.”
Beyoncé’ Puts a Twist on Dolly Parton’s Jolene
Now that the album is out, we’re learning that both Beyoncé and Parton are quite sneaky. On COUNTRY CARTER, just before Jolene plays, Parton has a few words to share. It’s the perfect transition into the song which, thanks to Beyoncé’s tweaks, turns the tables on Jolene.
“Hey miss Honey B, it’s Dolly P,” Parton says in the track titled Dolly P. “You know that hussy with the good hair you sing about? Reminded me of someone I knew back when.”
Rather than feeling threatened by the woman, Beyoncé takes the stance that nothing can get between her and her man. Needless to say, fans of both Parton and Beyoncé are ecstatic over this new take on the hit song. Best of all, it’s just one of many hits on the album!
As of today, Beyoncé and Parton have hit country albums — but they’ve both been icons in music for much longer!
