Dad Discovers Empty Space Under Stairs & Crafts Genius Doggy Bedroom.

Change can be tough for anyone to cope with, and pets aren’t any exception. A lot of noise and a new baby on the way might be tough for pets to deal with, especially without their own space.

So dog-dad Michael McGowen came up with a wonderful idea: create the perfect pet getaway for a lucky Westie named Molly.

“Molly, the Westie, found out she was going to be a big sister to a little human,” wrote Michael, “so I decided to build her a room of her own under the stairs, before the baby arrived.”

The space under the stairs was completely walled-in, but Michael was thrilled when he drilled a hole and found a hollow space, perfect for Molly’s room.

Soon, the project was underway!

It doesn’t look like much, but Michael had a vision.

“Don’t want Molly to be scared of the space, so in for an early look. Definitely going to be big enough!”

“In for a sniff and helping with the plastering/sealing.”

What a good helper!

It took a bit of elbow grease and a lot of creative decorating, but finally, Molly had her very own “doggie cave!”

“All moved in, proud as punch!”

The adorable space comes complete with flooring, wallpaper, a furry rug, a Molly-sized couch with toys, lighting, and a comfy doggy bed.

…Oh, and framed photos on the walls, of course.

The special dog room was a hit with Molly. “She often goes away for some peace and quiet, when we have lots of visitors.”

As for the baby, Molly is said to be a fantastic “big sister,” who’s very gentle and patient. No doubt having an awesome place to run away to when things get crazy surely helps!
