It is no secret that most animals enjoy music. While we probably assumed that genre and artist made no difference, Bruce the Saint Bernard says otherwise. During a test of music, Bruce rated each song with his body language. Guns and Roses: check. Sublime: check. Coldplay: check. The Lumineers… The dog hates The Lumineers.

To determine if it was just the song, “Ho, Hey” by The Lumineers, Bruce’s dad played “Ophelia” next. Although his reaction wasn’t as immediate as with the first song, Bruce ended up standing, growling, and barking at “Ophelia” also. It’s official. The dog hates The Lumineers.
Soft music playing can calm a dog with separation anxiety or a reactive dog during a storm. Some dogs love music so much that they will request it in their special way.
The Creators at The Saints and Poncho have a bonded pair of Saint Bernards. And then there is Poncho. Poncho is not a chew toy, but it took a bit to convince Bruce and Baby of that. They introduced the little chihuahua to the big dogs. It took some time, but the big dogs eventually realized that Poncho was not a chicken nugget.
We don’t know if Poncho and the big dogs are fully acclimated to one another. The dog parents are taking it very slowly to ensure safety for all three dogs. Chihuahuas are notoriously bitey, so the concern for safety includes Bruce and Baby. The little ankle-biter is much more dangerous than the huge cuddlebugs.
If you want to keep up-to-date on how Poncho is fitting into the household, follow The Saints and Poncho on TikTok. There will probably be more updates on Bruce’s favorite music choices, too.
