For pregnant folks, the nine month wait to officially meet their little one can feel so incredibly slow. This is especially true for people like Gwendalyn McHaddad who, at 41 weeks, are still waiting for their baby to make their grand entrance into the world. As you can imagine, this soon-to-be Mom and all of her loved ones were anxiously waiting for the big day to arrive. Still, nothing could prepare them for the newborn baby surprise that Gwendalyn had up her sleeve.

Sure, Gwendalyn could have told her friends when she went into labor. She even could have let them know with a text or a call that baby Maverick was officially here. Instead, she chose a more fun, unexpected option.
Without a single hint that Gwendalyn has already given birth, she calls up a few of her friends on FaceTime. Rather than showing her own face on the screen, however, she starts each call by showing her sleeping newborn. Needless to say, her friends’ reactions are priceless!

All of her friends’ reactions are amazing, but my favorites have to be the first two. With friend number one, rather than addressing Gwendalyn, she immediately starts to talk directly to Maverick himself.
“Hi Maverick!” she says quietly, sounding on the verge of tears. “Hi baby!”
Gwendalyn’s second friend starts to speak but stops herself when she sees the baby. Her mouth opens from shock, and she stays this way for a surprisingly long time. Then, soon after, the tears start to flow.
It’s safe to say that little Maverick is sure to have the love and support of lots of folks in his life! And I can only imagine how great this video will be to watch again with he’s older.
