Denny's Eggs

It reads in part, “Denny’s remains committed to providing our guests with delicious meals they love at the value they expect. We do our best to plan ahead with our vendors on items like eggs to minimize the impact market volatility has on our costs and menu pricing.”

Denny’s added, “We understand our guests’ desire for value. And we will continue to look for ways to provide options on our menu, including our $2 $4 $6 $8 value menu, while navigating these rapidly changing market dynamics responsibly.”

Denny’s Isn’t The First Restaurant To Announce Changes In Egg Prices

Waffle House announced in early February it would begin to charge a $.50 surcharge for every egg ordered.

The news of the surcharge upset competitor Cracker Barrel, which told Today in early February, “A surcharge on eggs? Well, there’s nothing hospitable about that,” a spokesperson shared in an email. At Cracker Barrel, country hospitality is as important to us as a hearty breakfast. And that means not charging extra for eggs.”

The surge in egg prices is due to an outbreak of avian influenza, or bird flu. Denny’s, Cracker Barrel, and Waffle House have all felt the bird flu blues regarding eggs.

Even though Denny’s and other restaurants complain about high egg prices, some people are trying to make light of the situation. TikToker @coffeeandcuddles_. She posted a satirical rant about egg prices and said she just bought 65 eggs for $12 at Costco and told people to “look around a little bit harder” as she munched on a Reese’s peanut butter egg.
