Formerly Deaf Baby Hears Mom’s Voice For First Time, Lights Up In Most Adorable Way Possible.

Xander baby face lights up

We’ve shared some incredible stories with you about hearing-impaired people hearing their mothers’ voices for the first time. There was 3-month-old Jordan Blair, who lit up the internet with his massive smile. And a teenager named Breanna whose tears of joy still make us weepy. But Xander, the little baby in the video below, may have the best reaction of all!

Xander–from Gwinnett County, Georgia–was born nine weeks early, and suffered a brain bleed while in the NICU. “They told me he passed his hearing screen while he was in NICU,” Xander’s mom wrote online. “When he was discharged after 59 days in the hospital, I noticed he didn’t get startled like other babies.”

The new Mom suspected that her newborn was deaf, and urged doctors to test his hearing again. “It took me 3 months of advocating for my son for them to test his hearing. They thought I was just being a over protective mother. I was proven right. Never underestimate a mother!”

In the video below, 8 month old Xander tests out a Phonax hearing device. “What are you hearing?” asks Mom as he begins to react to this new world of sound. “Are you listening?”

Xander’s face lights up at the sound of his mom’s voice!
